Fire System Out of Service

You have requested us to place your commercial fire alarm system “on test.” Because the system is expected to be out of service for over 8 hours, it’s our responsibility to notify you of the applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements.

According to NFPA code, if a fire alarm or sprinkler system remains out of service for 8 hours or longer, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) must be notified. The AHJ will determine whether the building should be evacuated or if an approved fire watch must be implemented until the system is restored to normal operation.
